Let their present ages be 3x and 4x.
Six years ago, their ages were (3x - 6) and (4x - 6).
So, according to the question:
Cross multiplying,
Simplifying,
Therefore, Ritu’s present age = 3x = 18 years.
Answer: 18 years

So, according to the question:
(3x - 6) / (4x - 6) = 2 / 3
Cross multiplying,
3(3x - 6) = 2(4x - 6)
Simplifying,
9x - 18 = 8x - 12
x = 6

The sum of the ages of a son and father is

Let the present ages be s (son) and f (father).
Given: s + f = 56 … (1)
After 4 years: (f + 4) = 3(s + 4) ⇒ f = 3s + 8 … (2)
Substitute (2) in (1):
s + (3s + 8) = 56 ⇒ 4s = 48 ⇒ s = 12.
Then f = 56 − 12 = 44.
Answer (father, son): 44 years, 12 years

After 4 years: (f + 4) = 3(s + 4) ⇒ f = 3s + 8 … (2)

speed of current = c km/h.
Then,
Downstream speed = b + c = 11
Upstream speed = b - c = 7
Adding both: 2b = 18
b = 9
Subtracting: 2c = 4
c = 2

✅ Speed of current = 2 km/h
