If $54+43=2,\ 60+51=10$, then $62+72=\ ?$

Solution

Rule: $(ab)+(cd)\ \mapsto\ (a-b)+(c-d)$ (sum of digit-differences). $54+43 \Rightarrow (5-4)+(4-3)=1+1=2$. $60+51 \Rightarrow (6-0)+(5-1)=6+4=10$. $62+72 \Rightarrow (6-2)+(7-2)=4+5=9$.
