UP Home Guard Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online for 41,424 Posts

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), in coordination with the Home Guards Headquarters, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, has received approval to enroll Home Guards on 41,424 vacant posts across all districts of the state. This article explains the complete details of the notification in English – eligibility, educational qualification, age limit, fees, important dates, nationality rules, and preferential qualifications.

UP Home Guard Recruitment 2025 – Overview

District-wise category-wise vacancies and horizontal reservation (for dependents of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and women) are given in the official vacancy tables. Candidates must apply against the vacancies of their own home district only.

1. Duty Allowance & Nature of Engagement

• Enrolled Home Guards will be called on duty as per requirement of the Government / Department.
• Whenever they are called on duty, they will receive duty allowance as prescribed by the State Government from time to time.
• At present, the notified duty allowance is ₹600 per duty day along with dearness allowance (DA) as admissible.

The number of vacancies can be changed at any time before the examination and the enrolment process may be cancelled at any stage without assigning any reason.

2. Eligibility Conditions

2.1 Physical & Mental Fitness

Persons suffering from physical or mental defects and differently-abled candidates are not eligible for enrolment to the post of Home Guard.

2.2 Domicile of District

For enrolment on Home Guard posts, it is compulsory that the candidate is a permanent resident of the district against whose vacancies he/she is applying.

Note: As per Government Order No. 1846/पचासी-2025-08प्रशिक्षण/2012 dated 16-11-2025, along with the permanent residence certificate, the district domicile certificate issued by the competent authority will also be treated as valid.

2.3 Candidates Already in Regular Service

Persons who are working on a regular basis in the services of:

• Public / Government sector, or
• Semi-government organisations, or
• Public enterprises

are not eligible for enrolment on Home Guard posts.

2.4 Other Government Employees

Persons working under the Union Government, any State Government, local authority, corporations or bodies under the control of any government are also not eligible for enrolment as Home Guards.

2.5 Criminal Cases

If any criminal case is pending against a candidate in any court, such candidate will not be eligible for enrolment to the post of Home Guard.

2.6 Marital Status

A male or female candidate who has more than one living spouse will not be considered eligible for enrolment.

3. Important Dates and Application Instructions

3.2 One Time Registration (OTR)

Before submitting the online form, candidates must complete the One Time Registration (OTR). Without OTR, application cannot be submitted.

3.3 Filling the Application Form

• Candidates must fill all entries in the application form carefully and correctly.
• All information regarding educational qualifications, reservation and other details should be entered with utmost caution so that no correction is required later.
• Candidates must upload all required certificates related to educational qualification, reservation, domicile, etc., along with the application form within the given time.
• Documents sent through any other mode or at any later stage will not be accepted.

3.4 Selection Method

For the district-wise advertised posts, selection will be made on the basis of:

• Marks obtained in the written examination, and
• Marks awarded for preferential qualifications as per rules,

and the final merit list will be prepared according to reservation policy and total obtained marks.

3.5 Application Fee

The application fee for this enrolment process will be charged as under:

• General / EWS / Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates: ₹400/-
• Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates: ₹300/-

4. Nationality (Citizenship Conditions)

For enrolment on Home Guard posts, it is necessary that the candidate is:

1. An Indian citizen, OR
2. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, OR
3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or any East African country such as Kenya, Uganda or the United Republic of Tanzania (former Tanganyika and Zanzibar) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates covered under category (b) or (c) must obtain a certificate of eligibility issued by the State Government. For category (b) candidates it is also expected that they obtain the eligibility certificate from the Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence, Uttar Pradesh.

If a candidate of category (c) is granted an eligibility certificate, it will not be issued for a period exceeding one year. The candidate must acquire Indian citizenship within one year; otherwise, he/she may not be retained in service.

Note: If a candidate’s case requires an eligibility certificate and the certificate has neither been issued nor refused, he/she may be allowed to appear in the examination and may even be enrolled provisionally subject to submission of the required certificate within the prescribed time limit.

5. Educational Qualification

5.1 Minimum Qualification

For enrolment as Home Guard, the candidate must have passed Class 10 (High School) from any board established by law in India or any board recognized as equivalent by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Examinations conducted by different examination bodies recognized as equivalent to High School by the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education will also be treated as valid.

5.2 Documents to be Uploaded

At the time of application, the candidate must necessarily mention and upload details of the prescribed educational qualification, marksheet and certificate.

Candidates who are appearing or have only appeared in the Class 10 examination but whose result is not declared are not eligible.

Note: It is the responsibility of the candidate to prove the correctness, authenticity and equivalence of the educational qualification mentioned in the application form. The decision of Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board in this regard shall be final.

6. Preferential Qualifications (Adhimaanee Ahrataen)

Candidates possessing certain additional qualifications will be awarded extra marks under the head of preference. If a candidate possesses more than one preferential qualification, marks will be awarded only for the qualification that carries the highest marks.

6.2 Disaster Management Training

Candidates who have completed the “Aapda Mitra Prashikshan” (Disaster Friend Training) conducted under Uttar Pradesh SDRF will be awarded 03 additional marks in addition to the above marks, wherever applicable.

6.3 Valid Driving Licence

Candidates holding a valid driving licence for four-wheeler vehicles will get 01 separate additional mark under preferential qualifications.

7. Age Limit (as on 01 July 2025)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years

Therefore, the candidate must have been born on or after 01-07-1995 and not after 01-07-2007.

For candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other categories notified by the Government (only permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh), relaxation in the upper age limit will be admissible as per the prevailing Government rules and government orders.

For proof of age, the high school certificate or an equivalent examination certificate will be treated as the only valid document.

8. How to Apply Online

1. Visit the official recruitment website of Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board.
2. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) with personal and contact details.
3. Login using the registration details and select the Home Guard enrolment application.
4. Fill all entries in the online form carefully, including district, category, educational qualification and preferential qualifications.
5. Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, High School certificate/marksheet, domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable) and other supporting documents.
6. Pay the application fee online within the prescribed dates.
7. Submit the application and take a printout of the final submitted form for future reference.
